Azerbaijan`s FM meets PACE President
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met a delegation led by President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Pedro Agramunt.
The sides discussed the ways of advancing the cooperation between PACE and Azerbaijan and they emphasized the importance of expanding the relations in the atmosphere of constructive dialogue and understanding.
The sides also exchanged views on the negotiation process towards the resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed the inadmissibility of attempts aimed at altering the internationally recognized borders of states by use of force and added that it is sovereign right of every country to bring the serious issue like the violation of territorial integrity to the agenda of relevant international organizations.
Mentioning that the fact of unacceptability and unsustainability of status-quo was recognized by OSCE MG co-chairs and international community at large, he added that according to the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council, the armed forces of Armenia have to be withdrawn from all occupied territories of Azerbaijan to achieve progress in the settlement of conflict. Emphasizing that the rights of more than one million Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs have been violated as the result of the conflict, he called on the international organizations to pay particular attention to that issue.
Touching upon the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, Minister underlined the interest of Azerbaijan in further promoting of cooperation in this field.
Noting that Azerbaijan has a successful cooperation with PACE, Pedro Agramunt stressed the existence of good prospects for the further development of relations.
