MISSION
The Permanent Representation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe, as a diplomatic mission, is the direct contact point between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe.
The Permanent Representation participates in the steering of the Organization and in the preparation of its decisions, by sitting in the weekly meetings of the Committee of Ministers, as well as in other relevant meetings.
The Permanent Representation maintains close working relations with the General Secretariat of the organization, and dialogues with all the players involved in the decision-making process, in particular the other member states.
The Permanent Representation fosters intergovernmental cooperation by maintaining contacts with experts from Azerbaijan involved in the organization's work at the technical level.
The Permanent Representation participates in the supervision of the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights within the framework of the powers conferred on it by the European Convention on Human Rights. However, it does not deal directly with litigation before the European Court concerning Azerbaijan. Proceedings at the European Court are followed by the Government Agent.
The Permanent Representation maintains regular relations with the delegation of Azerbaijan to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), as well as with the delegation of Azerbaijan to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
